Microsoft and SK Telecom have signed an MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) to collaborate on AI, 5G, and cloud technologies.

Land Rover: Driverless cars need 1000x more code than Apollo 11

Jaguar Land Rover has said driverless cars will require close to a billion lines of code, almost 1000x as much as what put man on the moon.

Denmark is the latest country to receive nationwide IoT

Denmark has been covered with IoT connectivity thanks to a partnership between telecoms firm Teracom and LoRaWAN specialists Loriot.

Sigfox Canada launches world's largest IoT network with coast-to-coast availability

Sigfox Canada has launched the nation's first IoT network which claims to offer ‘coast-to-coast’ availability.

The deployment is said to be the largest IoT network in the world and extends Sigfox’s presence in 60 countries from Newfoundland to Vancouver.

LG Uplus and Hanyang Uni test 5G self-driving car in Seoul

LG Uplus and Hanyang University are testing a 5G self-driving car trial in Seoul to demonstrate how it could solve traffic problems.

South Korean telecoms company LG Uplus used its 5G network for the trial which saw a driverless vehicle dubbed the ‘A1’ drive eight kilometres in heavy traffic for 25 minutes.

The car was seen changing lanes and reacting to vehicles around it. Hanyang University’s ACE Lab said the A1 was close to performing at ‘Level 4’ driverless autonomy.

BT’s latest IoT project is to help Northumbrian Water get smart

BT has secured a contract with Northumbrian Water to supply a low power IoT network which can boost efficiency through improved operational insights.

Approximately 150 sensors will be deployed across the network and will monitor things such as water flow, quality, and pressure. These sensors will be connected via a LoRaWAN (low power, long range, wide area network) and feed back data to BT’s IoT platform.

Udderly groundbreaking 5G/IoT experiment provides real-time cow tracking

Cisco has debuted a smart farm IoT experiment which uses 5G connectivity to keep tabs on a cow of the user’s choice in real-time via their smartphone.
