Verizon Business has launched its Global IoT Orchestration platform, a solution that empowers businesses to deploy and centrally manage devices across international borders.
Leveraging the power of native eSIM and roaming capabilities from MNO (Mobile Network Operator) partners, Verizon’s platform offers a solution for companies seeking to expand their IoT operations globally.
Global IoT Orchestration is integrated with the Verizon ThingSpace IoT management platform and enables businesses to manage both domestic and global IoT connections through a seamless API interface. Companies can efficiently oversee their IoT deployments worldwide, simplifying complex operations and streamlining connectivity.
Mats Lundquist, CEO of Telenor Connexion and Head of Telenor IoT, said:
“Together with Verizon, we can streamline our customer’s solutions and supply chains while enabling even more reliable access to the US market.
This includes local network functionality, which is a catalyst for the next generation of 5G-enabled critical IoT services.”
The company is set to announce additional MNO eSIM partners covering even more territories around the world later this year. This comprehensive coverage will empower businesses to access a service footprint of up to 200 countries and regions, unlocking global connectivity for their IoT devices.
Michel Richer, SVP for Enterprise Solutions, Data Engineering, and AI at Bell Canada, commented:
“Bell is delighted to provide Canada’s best network to support Verizon and its business customers with the seamless coverage they need for their IoT devices in Canada.
This offering delivers the best service experience for centrally managing cutting-edge enterprise IoT applications. And, it enables secure access to critical operational data in real-time, no matter where in the globe IoT devices may be operating.”
The move towards global IoT is driven by the exponential growth of IoT devices worldwide and the need for flexible and reliable cross-border connectivity. For companies operating internationally, ensuring data availability and seamless device connectivity across various regions is crucial for their IoT solutions’ success.
Global IoT Orchestration aims to deliver precisely that, allowing devices to connect natively via eSIM profiles from international carrier partners, essentially operating as network subscribers in those partner regions. This seamless integration provides businesses with full technical, commercial, and multi-network coverage capabilities, enabling solutions that require local connectivity.
Debika Bhattacharya, Chief Product Officer at Verizon Business, said:
“The move toward global IoT reflects the reality of doing business in the massive IoT era. The number of IoT devices is expanding rapidly and fleets are fanning outward, so our customers need flexible, reliable connectivity that moves across borders.
With our partners Bell Canada, Telenor, and more to come, Verizon Global IoT Orchestration will be able to provide that — a globe-spanning footprint with seamless eSIM IoT connectivity.”
The impact of this platform extends to various industries, including device manufacturers with multinational markets.
John Marcolini, SVP for Networked Solutions at Itron, commented:
“Our global utility customers require industrial IoT networks, platforms and services to support critical energy, water and smart city services.
Itron’s decades-long collaboration with Verizon on device connectivity, including harnessing the power of Verizon ThingSpace and native eSIM, will result in increased cellular IoT availability while enabling Itron to cost-effectively design and deploy IoT solutions.”
Verizon Global IoT Orchestration is currently available for trials for new and existing Verizon Business customers in the US, allowing them to experience the benefits of this platform firsthand.
As the IoT landscape continues to expand, this solution is set to become an essential tool for businesses seeking to achieve a true industry-leading position in IoT deployment and management.
