Whole home automation company Control4 has joined the membership of the Z-Wave Alliance, a global membership organisation dedicated to advancing the Z-Wave wireless smart home protocol.
Control4 will be offering its customers and certified custom integrators a wide variety of choices in smart home automation devices and will also expand its interoperability.
Taking up the Z-Wave Alliance membership, Control4 joins over 375 additional supporters of the Z-Wave standard in smart homes around the world.
Mitchell Klein, executive director of the Z-Wave Alliance, said: “This milestone is an important proof point for the entire Z-Wave ecosystem; over the last year, we've seen increased adoption from both DIY and installed smart home manufacturers, global service providers, popular home security companies and leaders in the custom installer channel. Z-Wave is a flexible platform that will continue to support a growing ecosystem.”
Earlier this month, Control4 announced it was to be one of the first home automation companies to combine smart home scenes with the convenience of Amazon’s ‘Alexa’ far-field voice recognition which operates with a single voice command. A verbal “Alexa, turn off house” command shuts down the house by turning off all of the lights, lowering the thermostat, locking the doors, and arming the security system.
