Ericsson, Orange and Intel complete live trials of EC-GSM-IoT tech

Tech giants Ericsson, Orange, and Intel have announced the successful completion of a coverage trial for the Internet of Things (IoT) using EC-GSM-IoT.  

EC-GSM-IoT is a new technology that facilitates new competencies of existing cellular networks for LPWA (low power wide area) IoT applications. It can be activated via new software deployed over a very large GSM footprint, building even more coverage for IoT devices.

Visa aims to facilitate secure payments for IoT

Visa has announced it is opening its Visa Ready program to IoT organisations such as manufacturers of wearables, automobiles, appliances, public transportation services, clothing and other connected devices. IoT companies will work with mobile device manufacturers, including mobile point-of-sale acceptance (mPOS) providers, mobile NFC-enabled device manufacturers and other technology partners in the program.

Open Interconnect Consortium aims to help developers with IoT toolkit

The Open Interconnect Consortium (OIC) has launched a new developer toolkit in order to further standardise the Internet of Things (IoT) and help organisations take advantage of its potential.

Afero platform aims to bring more connectivity and security to IoT

Open Interconnect Consortium aims to consolidate standards efforts for IoT

The Open Interconnect Consortium (OIC) is furthering interoperability and alignment on standardisation for the IoT with the acquisition of the assets of the UPnP Forum. The development is set to simplify and consolidate the work on technology and infrastructure at both organisations.
